EMCORE Corporation has announced its decision to acquire the assets adn liabilities of the L3Harris Space and Navigation division. This strategic move is set to enhance EMCORE’s portfolio of inertial navigation products and broaden its market presence, thereby accelerating growth and generating additional revenue streams.
Specializing in high-performance inertial navigation sensors and systems for sectors such as aerospace, defense, and commercial applications—including UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and robotics—EMCORE will gain Master Supply agreements (MSAs) for the BoRG (Booster Rate Gyro) and TAIMU (Tri-Axial Inertial Measurement Unit) programs. This partnership with L3Harris opens up new avenues for collaborative business growth.
Key aspects of the acquisition include:
- EMCORE will be recognized as a preferred supplier for future projects within L3Harris divisions.
- The acquisition adds extensive capabilities for designing and testing space applications.
- Access to equipment for measuring shock, vibration, and thermal shock.
- Inclusion of X-ray capabilities and vacuum chambers.
- A considerable inventory of rate tables applicable to various product needs.

This acquisition will enhance our Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) offerings, especially in the Strategic Grade and Space-Qualified markets. Additionally, we will inherit a highly skilled technical team known for their excellence in developing and manufacturing high-performance FOGs, Ring Laser Gyros (RLGs), and reaction wheels.”
