When a damaged 16-inch pipeline segment in Saudi Arabian waters required replacement, Ashtead Technology was tasked with the operation. To ensure a precise and successful outcome, they integrated Voyis technology into their workflow.

A key challenge was verifying the ovality of the pipeline at the cut locations to guarantee that mechanical connectors would fit correctly. The Voyis Discovery Stereo Camera played a vital role in this process. The system captured high-resolution 8-megapixel images used to create detailed 3D models of the pipeline segment. Powered by Voyis VSLAM and EIVA NaviSuite, the camera enabled live 3D modeling and comprehensive data coverage, achieving millimeter-level accuracy. This precision gave the project team confidence that the pipeline ends would meet exacting standards before proceeding with the repair.

Ashtead Technology deployed the Voyis Discovery Stereo Camera after removing the pipeline coating with their Coating Removal Tool. The underwater data collection and real-time processing allowed technicians to verify ovality efficiently offshore. This seamless collaboration between Voyis’ cutting-edge optical sensors and Ashtead’s asset integrity expertise resulted in reduced operational time and streamlined inspection processes.
