Exciting New Advanced Drone Battery Facility to Break Ground Soon!

Packet Digital has secured a site in Fargo, ND, for its new battery cell plant, set to enhance U.S. manufacturing of high-performance drone batteries

New Drone Battery Manufacturing Plant to be Established

New Drone Battery manufacturing Plant to be Established in Fargo

packet Digital, a leader in power management solutions for autonomous technologies, has officially announced the site for its upcoming battery cell manufacturing facility in Fargo, North Dakota.

With the site secured, Packet Digital is poised to commence construction on the facility and procure the necessary equipment to produce its advanced, high-performance drone battery cells domestically.

Upon completion, the new 80,000-square-foot facility will focus on the production and assembly of high-performance battery cells, marking the company’s third operational site.

Strategic Move Towards Domestic production

The establishment of this cutting-edge drone battery plant aligns with Packet Digital’s comprehensive strategy to enhance the efficiency of the drone battery manufacturing process.

To support this initiative, Packet Digital is forging strong partnerships with raw material suppliers throughout the United States, ensuring a reliable domestic supply chain. Additionally, the company is collaborating with academic institutions to explore innovative methods for producing lithium-ion batteries using locally sourced materials.

Timeline and Future Prospects

Construction is slated to begin in 2024, with the facility anticipated to start producing battery cells by late 2025.

Terri zimmerman, CEO of Packet Digital, stated, “The Department of Defense has prioritized increasing domestic production of essential UAS components.”

“as a frontrunner in developing safe, reliable, and high-performance battery and charging systems, we recognize that now is the ideal time to optimize our supply chain and manufacture our products—from high-energy density battery cells to fully assembled battery packs—right here in the United States.”

“establishing this facility is a important milestone for UAS battery manufacturing in the U.S., and the support we’ve received from local, state, and federal governments, along with academic institutions, has been instrumental in making this vision a reality.”
