Amprius Technologies Expands Production Capacity for SiCore™ Batteries
Amprius Technologies is embarking on a meaningful initiative to enhance its global production capabilities for the SiCore™ battery line through strategic manufacturing collaborations.
as a frontrunner in advanced lithium-ion battery technology, Amprius has entered into agreements with multiple contract manufacturers, securing over 500 MWh of production capacity for its SiCore batteries. The company is also exploring additional partnerships within a network of established manufacturers based in Asia.
Since the introduction of the SiCore platform in january, there has been a notable surge in customer demand for large-scale cell production, prompting the need for expedited manufacturing processes. These strategic partnerships will enable the production of SiCore pouches in various chemistries and configurations, including popular 18650 and 21700 cylindrical formats.
This adaptable production capacity allows Amprius to swiftly adjust output levels in response to market fluctuations, minimizing delays and costs. The partnerships are designed to ensure prompt and efficient delivery, backed by rigorous quality control protocols to guarantee that every SiCore battery adheres to the company’s high-performance standards.
Engaging multiple manufacturing partners also serves to reduce risks associated with potential production setbacks, equipment malfunctions, and supply chain interruptions.
Innovative Technology and Product Offerings
The SiCore product line enhances Amprius’ already impressive SiMaxx™ series. By utilizing Amprius’ cutting-edge silicon anode technology, the SiCore family provides unmatched versatility in commercially available batteries, boasting cells with up to a 50% increase in energy density for extended range and over 1,200 cycles for remarkable longevity.
Dr. Kang Sun, CEO of Amprius Technologies, stated, “Timely delivery of our cells while upholding high quality is essential for our expansion. These manufacturing partnerships will allow us to scale quickly, maintain competitive pricing, and cater to the varied needs of our clients.”
“Collaborating with established firms helps us avoid upfront capital costs and ensures immediate availability, facilitating our customers’ qualification processes and expediting their transition to production.”
