Teal 2 Drone Secures Blue UAS Approval from the US Department of Defense

Red Cat Holdings has announced that its advanced military-grade small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS), the Teal 2, has successfully obtained Blue UAS certification from the US Department of Defense (DoD). This achievement places the Teal 2 among a limited selection of drones authorized for government use.

Innovative Features of the Teal 2

Launched in April 2023, the Teal 2 has quickly established itself as a premier choice for nighttime operations. It is the first sUAS to incorporate the cutting-edge Hadron 640R sensor from teledyne FLIR, which delivers exceptional thermal imaging capabilities in a compact design.Additionally, the Teal 2 is equipped with state-of-the-art intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) technologies, providing critical information that enables operators to make informed decisions swiftly.

Importance of Blue UAS Certification

The Teal 2 is the second sUAS from Teal Drones, a subsidiary of Red Cat, to achieve the stringent Blue UAS certification. Its predecessor, the Golden Eagle, is also included in the approved list, which currently features fewer than 20 drones. The DoD emphasizes that these drones are compliant with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), validated for cybersecurity, and deemed safe for operation, making them available for government procurement.
