New partnerships Enhance Iridium Certus Services for U.S. Government
Iridium Communications has announced that its partners—MetOcean Telematics, NAL Research, and Trace Systems—are now officially recognized as Iridium Certus service providers for U.S. government clients, joining the ranks of Satcom Direct. These strategic, long-term agreements empower these companies to deliver Iridium’s secure global satellite broadband and midband connectivity solutions for mobile voice and data services to government entities via a dedicated gateway.
Enhanced Capabilities for Defense Communications
Utilizing the unique strengths of the Iridium network, which offers truly global L-band connectivity that remains operational while on the move, MetOcean Telematics, NAL research, and Trace Systems can now provide advanced capabilities that align with the Communications Security (ComSec) standards set by the Department of Defense (DoD). These services encompass resilient global voice, data transmission, and 1080p HD live video streaming over satellite communications across various environments—land, sea, and air. Additionally, this service acts as a vital “ACE in PACE” (alternate, contingent, or emergency communications link), facilitating early entry interaction packages and command and control for autonomous systems, including UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and data backhaul operations.
Reliable Connectivity in Challenging Conditions
Whether in high-stakes combat scenarios or during severe weather conditions, the Iridium network ensures robust satellite communications, keeping users connected when it matters most. The iridium certus terminals allow U.S. government personnel to securely link remote assets to their command and control centers in the U.S., offering a cost-effective and secure solution from virtually any location worldwide.
Supporting the Modern Warfighter
Scott Scheimreif, Executive Vice President of Government Programs at Iridium, stated: “Iridium Certus continues to deliver essential broadband and midband capabilities to today’s warfighter. We are thrilled to welcome new service providers to broaden the reach of these offerings. With the integration of iridium Certus for government use, these partners will be instrumental in supporting dod personnel as they leverage this enhanced service.”
