Expansion to Support Growing Optical Components Requirement

To support the increasing need for Ophir’s lenses and optical components, the company’s manufacturing facility in Romania has relocated and expanded, introducing high-precision technologies

Expansion to Support Growing Optical Components Requirements

MKS Ophir’s Bucharest manufacturing facility in Romania has undergone a significant relocation and expansion to a new, state-of-the-art site.

This strategic move boosts production capacity and capabilities, underscoring the company’s commitment to meeting the growing demands of the security and defense industries in Europe and the U.S.

As a result, customers will see various benefits:

  • Expanded Capacity: Our new facility will be over 6,500 square meters (~70,000 square foot) in size, more than doubling our current production space. This allows us to accommodate larger-scale projects and meet increased production demands.
  • Advanced Technology: Ophir is introducing the latest high-precision CNC polishing, diamond turning, metrology, and thin film coating technologies. This upgrade enables the company to handle more complex and larger optical assemblies with even higher precision and efficiency.
  • Enhanced Production Flow: With cleanroom facilities (Class 1000 and 10,000) for inspection, coating, and assembly, Ophir maintains high standards in quality control and ensures that every component meets the customer’s stringent requirements.
  • Increased Flexibility: The expanded site also gives Ophir room to scale further, ensuring the company can support future client growth and evolving project requirements.

The relocation has been carefully planned to ensure there will be no disruption to customer orders. Ophir’s safety stock and phased move plan will enable continuous production and supply throughout the transition, which will be completed by the beginning of Q4 2024.

MKS Ophir brand remains dedicated to providing its customers with the highest quality products and services to meet their defense needs. Through this new state-of-the-art facility, the company reaffirms its commitment to delivering products with unmatched performance, reliability, and local support.
