Introducing the Latest LWIR Thermal Imaging Camera: A Game Changer in Thermal Technology!

The SWaP optimized Viento 1280 by Sierra-Olympia features the DRS cutting-edge 1280x1024, 10-micron sensor

Introducing the Viento 1280: A Leap in Thermal Imaging Technology

Sierra-Olympia Technologies,Inc. has unveiled the Viento 1280, an advanced high-definition (HD) uncooled long-wave infrared (LWIR) camera. This innovative camera core is equipped with a distinctive 1280×1024 microbolometer sensor featuring a 10-micron pixel pitch, derived from the Leonardo DRS EOIRS Tenum 1280M LWIR sensor core.

Exceptional Performance in a Compact Design

The Viento 1280 delivers outstanding sensitivity and performance in a small, lightweight package, making it ideal for various applications. It is especially suited for unmanned aerial vehicles, ground vehicle situational awareness, unmanned ground vehicles, and other infrared applications that demand a resolution four times that of conventional VGA sensors.

Advanced Connectivity and Support

Equipped with USB 3.0 digital outputs that comply with UVC standards, the Viento 1280 provides a 14-bit digital video stream through an OEM board-to-board connector or via an adapter board with a USB-C interface. A complete support package includes reference designs and sample code to facilitate the sensorS implementation, boasting a sensitivity of less than 50 millikelvins. additionally, trigger signals are available for synchronized operation across multiple sensors.

Versatile Lens Options and Frame Rate

The Viento 1280 is available with 25mm and 35mm F1.2 lens options, or it can be purchased without a lens. The focal plane array operates at a frame rate of 30 Hz, and it features an integrated one-point offset correction function with a non-uniformity correction (NUC) paddle. Sierra-Olympia also provides a M34-0.5 lens mounting option, allowing for various custom lens interfaces. This camera is designed as a testing and development tool, offering HD LWIR digital video for tailored submission development.

Industry Insights and Future Prospects

Chris Johnston,President of Sierra-Olympia,stated,“The Viento 1280 signifies a meaningful advancement in uncooled thermal imaging cameras, offering true HD display resolution.” He emphasized that there is a growing demand for high-resolution thermal cameras with enhanced flexibility, which this product fulfills. Sierra-Olympia is eager to collaborate with clients to integrate the Viento 1280 into their infrared systems.

Live Demonstrations at AUVSI Xponential 2022

The Sierra-Olympia team will showcase the Viento 1280 along with other HD and full HD infrared cameras, optical gas imaging cameras, and zoom cameras at booth 1854 during AUVSI Xponential 2022. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the capabilities of this cutting-edge technology firsthand.
