Introducing Aegis Power Systems’ Innovative AC-DC Power Supply Unit
Aegis Power Systems has unveiled a cutting-edge single-phase AC-DC power supply unit (PSU) designed in the 3U VPX form factor. This new unit, known as the VPX1PH3UC310-SA, has been meticulously crafted to comply with the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) technical standard, ensuring it’s effectiveness in interoperable sensor management systems. It accepts an input range of 85-264Vac and delivers dual outputs with a maximum power capacity of 310 watts, complete with EMI filtering capabilities.
Supporting Modular Open Systems Architecture
By adhering to SOSA standards, this PSU plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. Department of Defense’s Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) initiative. It offers a versatile AC-DC power supply solution that is particularly well-suited for payloads in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), including applications in radar, communications, electronic warfare, and electro-optical systems.
Advanced Features for Enhanced Performance
The VPX1PH3UC310-SA incorporates advanced switching power technology, ensuring high-efficiency AC-DC conversion with a power factor correction of .99 within a conduction-cooled module. The outputs are configured to provide +12V and +3.3V_AUX, aligning with SOSA technical standards. This unit is equipped with a variety of sophisticated power converter features, including integrated EMI filtering, alignment keys for multiple unit configurations within a single chassis, I2C monitoring, IPMC redundancy, and a broad operating temperature range, making it ideal for battlefield C5ISR and embedded computing applications.
Optimized Design for Versatile Applications
Engineered with a focus on swap (size, weight, and power) optimization, the PSU is housed in a 3U form factor with 5HP single-slot dimensions, compliant with VITA 48.2 standards. It also includes self-protection mechanisms to guard against over- and under-voltage, current, temperature fluctuations, and surge conditions, ensuring reliable operation in demanding environments.
