VideoRay, a leader in the production of portable underwater drones, has unveiled ‘Ally’, its latest compact ROV (Remotely Operated vehicle) featuring a four-thruster design.
With a forward speed of 4 knots and the ability to generate lateral thrust, Ally comes equipped with LED lighting and VideoRay’s innovative Ultra 4K Smart Camera, which includes onboard processing capabilities. Additional configurations feature a specialized spring-loaded vertical manipulator that can lift weights of up to 9.5 kg (21 lbs), along with forward-looking sonar and a Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) for enhanced navigation options.
Designed to operate at depths of up to 300 meters (984 feet), Ally can be customized to utilize either a round or square float configuration. The square float variant allows for increased payload capacity and supports both topside and battery-powered operations, while the 30.48 cm (12-inch) round float is ideal for inspecting pipes and tunnels.
According to VideoRay, Ally serves as a foundational Mission Specialist solution for users facing demanding tasks while remaining budget-friendly. This platform offers a robust choice that enables users to enhance thier vehicle’s functionalities and expand their fleet as financial resources and operational requirements change.
As the latest addition to VideoRay’s Mission specialist lineup, Ally joins the esteemed Defender and Pro 5 models, which have been chosen by the US Navy for their maritime expeditionary Standoff Response (MESR) initiative.
VideoRay emphasizes that operators of the Defender can now incorporate a more economical option into their fleet, as Ally shares essential components with all other Mission Specialist topside units, vehicles, tethers, and modules, ensuring full compatibility and potential for expansion.
Ally is designed to support specific mission profiles and also acts as a source for readily available spare modules, enhancing mission uptime.
Marcus Kolb, Chief Innovation Officer at VideoRay, remarked, “We are excited to launch Ally into the market. This entry-level ROV offers customers access to our renowned Mission Specialist technology, allowing for growth in line with their budget and requirements, ultimately paving the way to a high-end Defender.”
“The shared topside consoles and subsea modular components with our other Mission Specialist underwater vehicles provide a significant advantage, facilitating cost-effective fleet expansion. We eagerly anticipate delivering Ally to our customers starting in June.”
