Vantage Robotics has unveiled Trace,a highly compact nano drone specifically designed to cater to the requirements of national security, law enforcement, and critical infrastructure sectors.
Trace is an American-manufactured nano UAS (unmanned aerial system) that aims to deliver a reliable, portable, and economical solution, offering performance comparable to much larger systems.
Following four years of extensive development and testing in partnership with the Department of Defense (DoD) and various law enforcement agencies, Trace establishes a new benchmark in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) for small UAS.
as Vantage’s latest advancement, Trace provides a robust nano drone solution that excels in safety, stealth, and portability. Weighing in at just 153 grams, it operates below the FAA’s safe weight limit, making it accessible for a wide array of users in diverse environments without sacrificing safety or efficiency.
Notable Features
Safety: At a mere 153 grams, Trace is substantially below the FAA’s weight restrictions, making it suitable for deployment in sensitive areas.
Stealth: Featuring a gimbal-stabilized thermal camera and a 48 MP electro-optical camera with 24x zoom, Trace operates nearly silently, making it ideal for covert operations in various lighting conditions.
Indoor and Confined Space Navigation: With a wingspan of just 12 inches, Trace adeptly maneuvers through tight spaces using seven laser range-finding sensors and full position control without relying on GPS.
Portability: Trace can be conveniently stored in a compact backpack alongside its Vision2 Ground Control Station (GCS) and IP-67 rated field case, making it an excellent tool for tactical missions.
Technical Specifications
Despite its small size, Trace’s performance rivals that of larger UAS. It can operate in wind conditions of up to 25 knots and boasts a flight duration exceeding 30 minutes on a standard battery, extendable to 45 minutes with an endurance battery.
Constructed with a carbon fiber and titanium frame and featuring IP-53 weather resistance, Trace is built to endure challenging operational conditions. Its proprietary Poplar radio system ensures secure communication through dynamic frequency hopping and AES-256 encryption, maintaining a reliable connection over distances of up to 2 kilometers.
Equipped with advanced AI capabilities, Trace and its Vision2 controller facilitate object classification and tracking, making it notably suitable for ISR tasks. The drone’s 22-gram 2-axis stabilized EO/IR camera and its folded-PCBA airframe are part of the innovative technologies that enable these exceptional features.
