Kraken Robotics Completes Acquisition of Subsea LiDAR Firm

Kraken robotics Inc. has successfully completed its acquisition of 3D at Depth Inc.,a company renowned for its expertise in high-resolution LiDAR imaging and measurement technologies in subsea environments.

Now operating as a fully owned subsidiary of Kraken, 3D at Depth will transition to the Kraken brand while continuing to serve as a reliable partner in subsea LiDAR imaging. This acquisition enhances Kraken’s existing offerings, which include synthetic aperture sonar and sub-bottom imaging technologies.

Kraken provides a range of cutting-edge marine technology products and services designed to assist clients globally in executing intricate subsea missions, delivering superior data quality and improved operational endurance.

Kraken Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS)

The Kraken SAS represents a significant leap in technology, enabling simultaneous imaging and bathymetric mapping while achieving remarkably high resolution, extended range, and the industry’s leading Area Coverage rates (ACR). This technology supports a variety of applications, including mine countermeasures, port security, infrastructure integrity assessments, and extensive habitat mapping, facilitating rapid and cost-effective decision-making through detailed subsea data collection.

KATFISH

Kraken’s KATFISH is an actively stabilized synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) towfish system capable of generating ultra-high-resolution data with a precision of up to 2 cm x 2 cm. The KATFISH towbody employs articulated tailfins and an advanced autopilot system to counteract motion, ensuring high-quality data acquisition and extensive area coverage.

SeaPower

The SeaPower pressure-neutral battery system from Kraken boasts double the energy density while being 46% lighter in water per kWh compared to conventional oil-compensated batteries. This remarkable energy-to-weight ratio facilitates prolonged, deeper, and more intricate underwater operations with fewer recharging intervals.
