ATMOSPHERE, a leader in satellite connectivity solutions for UAVs and drones, has announced the PLANET 8888 Terminal.

Designed to meet the demanding communication needs of unmanned mission aircraft and rotorcraft, the PLANET 8888 SATCOM Terminal delivers robust mobile IP connectivity paired with advanced video streaming capabilities, providing reliable service without boundaries.

The Iridium® certified PLANET 8888 Terminal harnesses the power of the Iridium Certus™ 100 satellite service, offering native IP connectivity with satellite midband throughput – 88 kbps for both uplink and downlink.

Built to operate reliably across challenging conditions, the rugged terminal integrates essential local interfaces including power, Ethernet, and serial connections, alongside a GNSS receiver that ensures autonomous location and timing.

Enhanced Functionality Through Embedded Application Software

Accessible through a user-friendly web interface, the embedded PLANET app adds significant value by providing features such as:

  • Real-Time Tracking & Collaboration
    Monitor and manage missions with seamless tracking and collaboration tools.
  • Telemetry Handling & Weather Upload
    Ensure critical data is accurately relayed and that flight crews remain informed about real-time weather conditions.
  • Video Processing Capabilities
    With integrated compression software, the terminal supports video streaming at up to 88 kbps, paving the way for enhanced situational awareness and communication.
