Volz Servos Partners with Airbus for Advanced UAS Solutions

Volz Servos GmbH, a leading German manufacturer of actuators, has secured a meaningful contract with Airbus to supply components for the SIRTAP high-performance tactical unmanned aerial system (UAS).

As part of this collaboration, Volz will equip the Airbus SIRTAP drones with its innovative DA 26 actuators, specifically designed for the air conditioning systems.

Innovative Features of the DA 26 Actuators

The DA 26 actuators are engineered with a brushless motor and a contactless, wear-free position sensor, ensuring exceptional safety and reliability. This design not only extends the service life of the actuators but also maximizes power output while minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI) typically caused by brush sparking.

Constructed from saltwater-resistant aluminum and treated with HART-coat, the housing of the DA 26 meets the stringent IP-67 standard for dust and water protection. Additionally, it features an integrated Sub-D connector, with options for MIL-spec circular connectors or cable glands upon request. The housing also includes built-in brackets for both horizontal and vertical installation.

Proven Performance and Versatility

these actuators have undergone rigorous endurance testing, exceeding 3 million cycles (over 2,000 hours), and have demonstrated their reliability in various applications, including the Schiebel Camcopter S100.

The SIRTAP system is designed for dual-use applications, catering to a diverse range of missions that meet the operational requirements of both governmental and institutional clients. This includes day/night and maritime Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations.
