NATO Secures Advanced Underwater Mine Disposal Solutions from Exail Robotics
Exail Robotics Belgium has been awarded a meaningful contract too supply its K-Ster C underwater mine disposal systems, K-Ster CT training units, and related equipment to the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA).
Innovative Mine Disposal Technology
The K-Ster C represents a cutting-edge solution for underwater mine neutralization, boasting a compact and lightweight design that facilitates straightforward deployment and operation. This vehicle is outfitted with a robust shaped charge capable of neutralizing various mine types effectively. The total value of this order approaches 60 million Euros.
Precision and Safety in mine Clearance
With its exceptional maneuverability and sophisticated guidance system, the K-Ster C ensures accurate targeting and detonation, wich is crucial for the safe clearance of minefields. The K-Ster CT variant is specifically designed for training, featuring an inert warhead that allows for realistic practice scenarios without the dangers associated with live explosives.
A Proven Track Record in Mine Countermeasures
Drawing on four decades of expertise in Mine Countermeasure (MCM) systems, the K-Ster has been successfully deployed by numerous navies around the globe. It can seamlessly integrate into Exail’s Unmanned Mine Countermeasure Integrated System (UMIS),which encompasses a variety of unmanned platforms,including unmanned surface vessels (USVs),autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs),towed systems,and remotely operated vehicles for mine identification and disposal (MIDS ROVs).
Supporting NATO Allies
These advanced systems are primarily aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the Belgian and Royal Netherlands navies. The K-ster units will be manufactured at Exail’s state-of-the-art facility located in Oostende, Belgium.
Modernization of Naval Capabilities
Opened in 2022, this factory is already engaged in producing a range of drones for the Belgian and Royal Netherlands navies as part of their ongoing modernization efforts in Mine Countermeasure capabilities.
