Strengthening Border Security: The Role of Elistair Orion uavs in Nigeria
The Nigerian Police Force has recently integrated a fleet of Orion tethered drones from Elistair to bolster the nation’s border security efforts.
Operational Deployment and Training
After receiving the UAVs and completing training sessions in Abuja at the start of 2022, these drones are now actively utilized on a daily basis for various missions, including homeland security, crime prevention, and counter-terrorism operations.
Rapid Deployment and Versatility
Designed for fast setup and easy transport, the Orion UAV enables law enforcement to establish discreet checkpoints within minutes, maintaining operations for several hours with minimal logistical requirements.
Enhancing Surveillance and Response
According to the Nigerian Police, these drones play a crucial role in monitoring ongoing crime scenes, coordinating tactical responses, and offering aerial support to ground officers. The UAVs’ capability to observe and identify threats over several kilometers during continuous 24-hour flights has reportedly led to the prosperous detection of armed terrorist factions.
Expanding Presence in West Africa
In a strategic move to enhance its service delivery in the region, Elistair inaugurated an office in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, in April 2021, aiming to strengthen its connections with clients across West Africa.
