Nokia Collaborates with Gremsy to Advance Payload Solutions for Drone-in-a-Box Operations

Gremsy and Nokia have partnered to deliver integrated imaging payloads for Nokia Drone Networks, enhancing autonomous drone operations for industrial and public safety missions

Nokia Collaborates with Gremsy to Advance Payload Solutions for Drone-in-a-Box Operations

Nokia has formed a technology partnership with Gremsy, a designer and manufacturer of gimbal and payload systems, to deliver fully integrated payload solutions for Nokia Drone Networks.

This strategic collaboration combines Gremsy’s advanced electro optical and infrared imaging systems with Nokia’s 4G and 5G connected drone-in-a-box platform to enhance mission effectiveness across a wide range of industrial and public safety applications.

The integration centers on Gremsy’s VIO and ORUS L payloads, which will be natively supported within Nokia Drone Networks. These payloads bring high resolution imaging, artificial intelligence enabled capabilities, and robust real-time video streaming into an autonomous drone system designed for reliable remote operations.

Together, the technologies enable seamless deployment for tasks such as infrastructure inspection, site monitoring, tactical response, and DFR (Drones as a First Responder) scenarios. Operating over secure cellular networks, the joint solution provides the scalability, responsiveness, and situational awareness required for mission critical operations.

Nguyen Van Chu, Vice Director at Gremsy, said, “This partnership is more than technical compatibility—it’s about readiness for real-world missions. By integrating VIO and ORUS L into Nokia Drone Networks, we’re enabling high-performance, connected drone systems for inspection, situational awareness, and DFR operations worldwide.”

Thomas Eder, Head of Embedded Wireless at Nokia, added, “It’s incredibly important for Nokia to collaborate with a partner like Gremsy. Their best-in-class payloads are a critical part of our strategy to build a future-proof, open payload ecosystem for Nokia Drone Networks. We’re especially excited about how these integrations will unlock massive potential in AI-powered analytics and open up entirely new market segments—from public safety and critical infrastructure to industrial automation and beyond.”

The integrated payloads are expected to be commercially available in the second half of 2025, with further joint development already planned to expand operational capabilities.

International demonstrations and field showcases commenced in early 2025, underscoring the platform’s readiness for deployment and its potential to transform remote inspection, surveillance, and emergency response workflows.
