Nokia Takes Charge of PROACTIF: A New Era for European Robotics
Nokia has been appointed as the leading entity for PROACTIF,a notable initiative under the European Union aimed at enhancing robotics and unmanned technologies throughout Europe.

Supported by the EU’s Chips Joint Undertaking, this multimillion-euro initiative seeks to strengthen Europe’s resilience and competitiveness in electronic components and systems. It also aims to accelerate the strategic independence of the continent’s drone and robotics industries.
Driving Innovation in Unmanned Technologies
As the primary coordinator, Nokia is set to spearhead advancements in unmanned vehicle technologies that tackle essential civil security issues, such as infrastructure surveillance and emergency response operations.
A Collaborative Effort Across Europe
PROACTIF brings together 42 partners and four affiliated organizations from 13 different European nations, forming a robust collaborative network that includes academia, small and medium-sized enterprises, and major industry stakeholders. The consortium plans to develop five unmanned vehicle platforms utilizing nine advanced technology components, focusing on autonomy, interoperability, rapid deployment, and cyber-secure operations. These platforms will be engineered for eco-friendly, safe, and cost-efficient performance, emphasizing the provision of actionable situational awareness during emergencies through continuous sensor data collection.

Future Prospects and Economic Impact
By the year 2035, the initiative is projected to generate around €90 million in revenue, launch 50 new products, and secure over 15 industry patents. Additionally,it is indeed expected to yield significant secondary benefits,including the creation of hundreds of new jobs,numerous cross-border collaborations,and more than €40 million in private investment. With its enterprising scope and focus on integrated unmanned systems,PROACTIF marks a pivotal advancement in the development of Europe’s autonomous robotics and unmanned vehicle capabilities.
