OceanAlpha has revealed that its innovative Dolphin 1 Water Rescue Robot has successfully saved a teenager who was caught in a strong undercurrent and swept approximately 100 meters from the shore.
The Shawo Police Station, part of the Weihai Maritime Police Detachment, deployed the Dolphin 1 Remote-Controlled Lifebuoy to assist in the rescue of the 15-year-old boy. The Dolphin 1 skillfully maneuvered through the turbulent waves, reaching the distressed teen swiftly under the guidance of the police. The boy was able to grasp the Dolphin 1, which then safely brought him back to shallower waters.
Gong Zhengqing, the deputy director of the Shawo Police Station, noted that the Dolphin 1 Water rescue Robot was acquired by the maritime Police Detachment of Weihai City to enhance the capabilities of first responders, allowing for faster and safer water rescues.
OceanAlpha emphasized that this incident is just one of many successful deployments of the Dolphin 1, which aids rescuers globally in monitoring larger aquatic areas. This portable and user-friendly Remote-Controlled Lifebuoy is also designed to assist rescue teams in saving individuals trapped during flooding events.
According to a report from the World Health Organization, drowning incidents result in approximately 372,000 fatalities annually. The introduction of the Dolphin 1 water rescue robot aims to improve the effectiveness of water rescues and minimize risks for rescuers in various water conditions.
