FAA Endorses Oswego City Police’s Drone First Responder Initiative

The Oswego City Police Department has achieved a significant milestone with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granting approval for its Drone as a First Responder (DFR) program to operate Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) without the need for Visual Observers (VOs), utilizing the uAvionix Casia G ground-based detect-and-avoid (DAA) system.

Enhancing Emergency Response with Drones

This groundbreaking approval empowers the police department to deploy small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) as an immediate response to emergencies, significantly improving response times, situational awareness, and overall safety for both the public and law enforcement personnel.
