Packet Digital Expands Horizons with New Battery Manufacturing Facility in North Dakota

The new 25,000-square-foot plant will enable Packet Digital to manufacture batteries and power electronics, supporting the company’s increased demand for manufacturing capacity

Packet Digital, the parent organization of Botlink, has announced its acquisition of a 25,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located in Fargo, North dakota. This site will focus on the production of batteries and power electronics specifically designed for unmanned aerial vehicles.

The company is set to make a considerable investment in advanced machinery and renovations at the facility, aiming to generate new, high-paying technology jobs within the local area.

As stated by Packet Digital, ongoing initiatives, including the development of next-generation batteries and chargers for the U.S. Navy, have prompted the need for an in-house manufacturing hub. The company plans to invest millions in cutting-edge automation technology and modern manufacturing processes for batteries and circuit boards, thereby reducing reliance on external manufacturing, whether in othre states or overseas.

This new setup will enable various battery welding techniques, the assembly of surface mount components on printed circuit boards, and the final assembly of electronic devices and smart battery systems all within the facility.

“We are thrilled about this pivotal moment in our journey, as we are witnessing remarkable growth,” remarked Terri Zimmerman, CEO of Packet Digital. “Our new manufacturing site represents our commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative, American-made batteries to our clients and underscores our dedication to manufacturing in North Dakota.”

In conjunction with the new facility, Packet digital plans to expand its engineering, production, software, and testing teams in Fargo and nearby areas. Renovations to the manufacturing site are anticipated to commence in early 2023,with mass production of batteries expected to begin by the end of the year.

“Investing in our workforce and the state of North Dakota is essential to our business ideology. Over the past year, we have doubled our team size, and we conservatively project that we will double our workforce again in the next few years,” Zimmerman concluded.
