Persistent Systems Revolutionizes Army Sensor Networks with MANET Technology
Persistent Systems, LLC has been awarded a contract to implement the Wave Relay® MANET as the primary data link for U.S. Army CBRNE sensors, enhancing the Dismounted Reconnaissance Sets,Kits, and Outfits (DRSKO) initiative.
Strategic Partnership for Enhanced Defense
The Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND) selected this advanced system, which includes the provision of MPU5 networking devices and related equipment.
Innovative Networking Capabilities
the Wave Relay MANET, integrated within MPU5 devices, establishes a robust, scalable, and self-healing network that links operators, sensors, and various platforms through a unified peer-to-peer framework. This architecture facilitates the efficient exchange of voice, video, text, sensor, and GPS details, crucial for identifying and mitigating threats from weapons of mass destruction.
Enhancing Real-Time Threat Response
this initiative is in line with the Army’s commitment to improving real-time threat detection and data-sharing capabilities. By utilizing the Wave Relay MANET, military personnel can receive immediate alerts regarding CBRNE threats, with vital information readily available on the android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK). This technology significantly reduces the delays typically associated with situational reports (SITREPs), allowing teams to act swiftly and effectively in response to dangerous situations.
Expert Insights on Modernization Efforts
Damien Mason, Director of Army Strategy at Persistent Systems, remarked, “equipping JPEO-CBRND with cutting-edge networking solutions guarantees seamless connectivity between CBRNE sensors and command centers, facilitating the real-time transfer of essential data beyond mere voice interaction. This initiative marks a pivotal modernization step for the Army’s CBRNE sector, promoting quicker and safer threat identification.”
“Our MANET technology provides direct sensor data to decision-makers, eliminating the need for waiting on calls or SITREPs, thus enabling immediate responses and ensuring team safety in challenging environments, including tunnels and confined spaces.”
“This selection highlights Persistent’s role as the preferred network solution for defense modernization, homeland security, and force protection efforts.”
