Powering the Future: Electromechanical Actuator Partnership Boosts eVTOL Aircraft Development

Volz Servos partners with BETA Technologies to advance ALIA eVTOL aircraft development, providing electromechanical actuators for innovative fly-by-wire aviation technologies

eVTOL aircraft from BETA will have electromechanical actuators supplied by Volz Servos

Strategic Partnership Between Volz Servos and BETA Technologies

Volz Servos has secured a pivotal production agreement with BETA Technologies, positioning itself as a key supplier of electromechanical actuators for the ALIA eVTOL initiative.

Commitment to Quality and Service

“volz is on track to finalize its EN 9100 certification, which is comparable to AS 9100,” states Phillipp Volz, the CEO of Volz Servos. “We have expanded our maintenance and aftermarket division to offer exceptional services, including 24/7 support that ensures rapid delivery of new servos globally in case of an AOG situation,” he elaborates, highlighting the notable enhancements made. this seasoned German small-to-medium enterprise is strategically positioning itself as a reliable aviation supplier for the future.

Advancements in Aviation Technology

In 2023, BETA and Volz collaborated to refine the fly-by-wire system for both the ALIA CTOL and ALIA VTOL models. The recent production agreement, which addresses supply chain logistics, lays the groundwork for ALIA’s manufacturing phase post-growth and certification. Through its EASA-certified subsidiary, Aircraft Electronic Engineering gmbh (AEE), Volz is equipped to design, produce, and maintain actuators that comply with aviation industry standards.

Looking Ahead: A promising Future

Phillipp Volz remarked; “BETA’s ALIA platform stands out as one of the most promising projects in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).We take pride in BETA’s ongoing trust in our contributions, and we are excited to continue providing innovative, certifiable actuators that align with both European and US aviation regulations. This is essential for establishing a presence in a market with immense potential that is gaining recognition.”

Milestones in Production and Testing

Talon Vazquez, BETA’s Supply Chain Head, noted; “Recently, we successfully rolled out our first aircraft from the production line and initiated flight testing.

“This marks a significant milestone for BETA as we move towards market delivery, a feat we could not have achieved without partners like Volz. Their provision of high-quality actuators that prioritize safety and reliability, while meeting various certification standards, is invaluable. Volz shares our long-term vision for AAM, and we are grateful for their support in addressing immediate customer needs while also preparing for an autonomous future.”
