Jason Maddocks Joins PteroDynamics as Program Manager

Leadership Role in Autonomous Aviation
Jason Maddocks, a seasoned program manager with extensive experience in the aviation sector, has taken on the role of program manager at PteroDynamics, a leader in the growth of autonomous Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft.
In his new position, Maddocks will be responsible for steering the execution of various programs within the company, ensuring that all initiatives align with business objectives regarding budget, timelines, process efficiency, and overall performance. Additionally, he will play a crucial role in expanding and directing the company’s flight operations.
A Distinguished Background in Aviation
Before joining PteroDynamics, Maddocks served as a U.S.Marine Corps attack pilot and was the lead test pilot for the AV-8B aircraft. He also held the position of deputy program manager for both the AV-8B and V-22 programs. Over the past six years,he has led teams at innovative unmanned aerial systems (UAS) startups,including Zipline and Loon,both based in Silicon Valley.

Comprehensive Experience in Aviation
Maddocks brings a wealth of experience in program management,systems engineering,and aircraft certification. Prior to his tenure at PteroDynamics, he was the head of operations engineering at Zipline, a logistics company specializing in UAS. He also served as a systems engineering consultant and led aviation safety initiatives for AVIAN on Alphabet’s Loon project, in addition to managing UAS geospatial acquisition contracts.
His background includes instructing at the U.S. Navy’s Naval air Systems Command (NAVAIR) College of Program Management and holding senior program management roles in the AV-8B and V-22 program offices while still in active service. A combat-decorated Marine, Maddocks is a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School and holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and MIT, respectively.
