Redwire Acquires Edge Autonomy Expanding Multi-Domain Autonomous Technology Portfolio

Redwire Corporation has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Edge Autonomy, a company specializing in uncrewed airborne systems.

This acquisition, valued at $925 million significantly expands Redwire’s portfolio to include combat-proven autonomous airborne platforms in support of critical forward-looking national security mission needs.

The combination of Redwire and Edge Autonomy is expected to create a transformative, multi-domain, scaled and profitable space and defense tech company focused on the convergence of integrated autonomous, AI-enabled multi-domain operations for defense and national security.

Formed in 2021 through the merger of UAV Factory and Jennings Aeronautics, Edge Autonomy brings over 30 years of experience in developing uncrewed and autonomous systems. Known for its long-endurance Stalker and Penguin UAS platforms, the company supports time-critical reconnaissance missions and maintains strong relationships with the U.S. Department of Defense and allied governments.

Edge Autonomy’s capabilities, coupled with Redwire’s expertise in space platforms, following the recent acquisition of Thresher and Mako to the Redwire Tehcnology portfolio, will create innovative, integrated solutions across space and airborne domains. This synergy is poised to meet growing defense and national security demands, particularly in AI-enabled, autonomous multi-domain operations.

“The combination of Redwire and Edge Autonomy creates a uniquely positioned space and defense company focused on two of the fastest growing trends in defense technology,” said Peter Cannito, Chairman and CEO of Redwire. “As space and airborne platforms converge into an integrated network of autonomous, collaborative systems, Redwire will be poised to provide end-to-end solutions for multi-domain operations from the surface of the earth to the surface of the moon and beyond.”

Edge Autonomy CEO Steve Adlich echoed the enthusiasm saying “We are extremely excited to join forces with Redwire and merge two industry leaders in advanced multi-domain technologies. Both companies are committed to technology innovation, reliability and satisfying customer demand, and we see significant synergies within our collective capabilities that will positively impact both businesses and enable continued growth.”

Headquartered in San Luis Obispo, California, Edge Autonomy employs over 600 professionals worldwide and operates 265,000 square feet of manufacturing space across the U.S. and Europe. Its robust portfolio of mission-proven technologies makes it a trusted partner for modern defense operations.
