Revolutionary Advanced INS with Edge Processing Launches for Underwater Robotics!

Greensea IQ has launched the IQNS and IQNS Mini, two new edge processing systems derived from the GS4 inertial navigation system (INS), designed for unmanned underwater robotics

Innovative INS with Edge Processing Unveiled for Underwater Robotics

Greensea IQ, a leader in cutting-edge ocean robotics technology, has introduced two innovative edge processing systems: the IQNS and IQNS Mini.

These state-of-the-art systems are engineered to enhance the functionality, scalability, and operational range of underwater robots, particularly in defense scenarios.

leveraging greensea IQ’s EOD Workspace, these systems offer advanced guidance, navigation, command, and control (GNCC) capabilities, along with onboard artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) functionalities.

Introducing the IQNS

The IQNS represents the latest advancement in Greensea IQ’s inertial navigation system (INS) lineup. This model enhances the well-regarded GS4 INS by incorporating sophisticated edge processing, vehicle control, and integrated inertial navigation features.

Tailored for small vehicle applications, the IQNS serves as a compact sensor and processing solution compatible with Greensea’s EOD Edge software suite.

With superior GNCC capabilities, the IQNS integrates sonar technology and onboard AI/ML processing for automatic target recognition (ATR),obstacle avoidance, and target tracking. It is powered by an NVIDIA edge processing system for enhanced perception capabilities.

Key features of the IQNS include:

Comprehensive Inertial Navigation Solution
The IQNS is equipped with an onboard sensor suite, complemented by additional sensors such as a Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), ultra-short baseline (USBL), and GPS. This ensures precise positioning and navigation through Greensea’s proprietary navigation algorithms.

Single-axis Fiber Optic Gyro (FOG)
A single-axis FOG delivers exceptional heading stability, making the IQNS an ideal choice for accurate underwater operations, interventions, and payload management.

Autonomous Functionality
The IQNS supports positioning, mission planning, and task autonomy, with integration options for common battlefield platforms.

Exploring the IQNS Mini

The IQNS Mini is specifically designed for small underwater vehicle applications, providing the same advanced EOD edge processing capabilities as the IQNS but in a more compact design.

This version offers an edge processor-only configuration of the IQNS, omitting onboard navigation sensors.

Engineered to enhance the IQNS with scalable processing power, the IQNS Mini can also be integrated into underwater robots in the smallest possible form factor. It is designed to fit seamlessly above the DVL on the VideoRay Defender.

The IQNS acts as the autonomy and navigation engine for Greensea IQ’s Bayonet AUGV product line, demonstrating its capabilities through extensive sea trials and field evaluations.

advancements in EOD Edge

EOD Edge represents the latest iteration of the EOD Workspace software system, utilized globally by various defense organizations for automating the detection, search, and neutralization of underwater threats.

This upgrade shifts processing capabilities to a subsea robot equipped with an edge processor, referred to as the “Brain,” which enhances local navigation, command, and control for systems like remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).

This innovation allows ROVs to utilize diverse dialog methods with operators (including lossy tethers and lower bandwidth communications) while maintaining stable operations. It also facilitates the implementation of contingency behaviors and safety protocols on the robot.

With a local processing unit, the software can easily adapt to increased autonomy, perception, and payload operations without necessitating an upgrade to the communication methods.
