Innovative Leap in Maritime Technology: the First Uncrewed Surface Vessel

Maritime‌ Robotics is set to provide and ‍implement⁤ an Autonomous Navigation System ‍for the inaugural ⁢Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) ⁤developed⁢ by USV AS.

About⁤ USV AS and Its Groundbreaking Vessel

USV AS, a collaborative venture formed by DeepOcean, Solstad Offshore ASA, and Østensjø Rederi, has unveiled plans for its‌ first USV.This 24-meter⁤ vessel is designed⁢ to undertake a variety of subsea operations.

Operational⁤ Capabilities and Control

The USV will be remotely‍ operated from an onshore control facility, boasting the ability to function offshore for up to 30 ‌consecutive days without the need ⁣for refueling.

Integration with‍ Advanced Technology

Equipped with a work-class Remotely operated Vehicle (ROV), the ⁢vessel will utilize‍ a newly⁢ engineered launch and recovery system,⁤ enabling the ROV to be ⁤deployed from smaller vessels like⁣ the USV itself. This integration positions the USV ‍primarily‍ as a‌ vessel for offshore ⁢intervention and inspection, with both the USV and ROV managed from a unified remote operations center.

Vision for the Future

“After years of dedicated ⁢effort on this initiative, we are excited to see⁣ this pioneering ‌project come to fruition. We ⁢appreciate ‍the bold strides the joint venture is making towards uncrewed ⁣deep-sea inspection and intervention. ⁢This project exemplifies Maritime Robotics’ vision of uncrewed systems collaborating to accomplish complex tasks more efficiently. It showcases our ⁤commitment to working with⁢ clients to develop enduring operational methods in ocean environments,” stated Vegard Evjen hovstein, CEO of Maritime ‍Robotics.

Safety and Environmental ‌Considerations

The USV is designed with ⁢numerous safety features to ensure the integrity of its operations. This cutting-edge technology aims to lower⁢ costs, reduce ⁤CO2 emissions, and ⁢minimize risks⁢ to crew members. The captain will maintain complete oversight⁤ of the vessel⁢ from the remote⁤ operations center.

Construction ⁣and Future Plans

Astilleros Gondán has been ⁣selected to construct the USV on ‍behalf of USV AS,‍ with⁢ an ‍expected delivery date by the end of⁣ 2024.⁤ The joint venture anticipates ‍that the USV will be operational by 2025, following‌ a series of offshore ⁤tests.
