Revolutionary ‘Bonded’ Network Service Set to Transform Maritime Communications!

Viasat’s Inmarsat has launched NexusWave, a network service for maritime communications, integrating multiple high-speed networks in real time for fast, always-on connectivity

‘Bonded’ Network Service for Maritime Communications Launched

Inmarsat Maritime, a division of Viasat, has introduced NexusWave, a extensive connectivity solution that leverages a ‘bonded’ multi-faceted network to deliver high-speed internet, unlimited data access, global reach, and a security-first infrastructure.

NexusWave is a fully managed service that integrates various high-speed networks in real-time, ensuring consistent and reliable connectivity. This includes Global Xpress (GX) Ka-band, low-Earth orbit (LEO) services, and available coastal LTE, supplemented by an L-band layer for added resilience.

The service features enterprise-grade firewall protection, trusted by both global corporations and government entities. Looking ahead,NexusWave is set to incorporate the next-generation ultra-high capacity ViaSat-3 Ka-band service, anticipated to launch in 2025.

As a cohesive solution, NexusWave guarantees managed performance regardless of the vessel’s location or specific needs, while offering complete clarity regarding total ownership costs—eliminating unexpected fees.

Tailored to enhance user experience in response to evolving demands, this innovative service supports digital conversion and crew welfare initiatives, effectively turning vessels into mobile offices and living spaces.

globally supported and fully managed by Inmarsat,NexusWave comes with premier technical support and expertise built on decades of industry experience. The solution will undergo continuous improvements, reflecting Inmarsat’s dedication to excellence.

Ben Palmer OBE, President of Inmarsat Maritime, stated, “Maritime operators are increasingly challenged by the rising demand for data and speed on their vessels, alongside the complexities of maintaining global connectivity while ensuring secure and efficient communications.”

“Traditionally, meeting these needs has involved a patchwork of disparate solutions, leading to complications with data limits, varying speeds, and inconsistent coverage, not to mention unverified cybersecurity. In an era where reliable communication is a competitive edge, maritime operators are looking for tailored solutions that emphasize high performance, reliability, and specific outcomes.”

Palmer added, “NexusWave addresses all these challenges and more. It represents a transformative shift in maritime communications, empowering our clients to operate confidently anywhere in the world, with complete assurance.”

“Our merger with Viasat last year combined the extraordinary talent, innovative capabilities, and network resources of both companies, creating a synergy that has been crucial in developing NexusWave—ensuring unparalleled connectivity for our customers well into the future.”
