Trimble has introduced an innovative line of high-end direct georeferencing solutions tailored for drone mapping sensors.

The Trimble APX RTX series is specifically designed for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and drone payload developers, enabling their clients to operate continuously in diverse conditions while efficiently producing high-precision, dependable mapping outputs.
This capability is enhanced by the incorporation of Trimble CenterPoint RTX, wich facilitates real-time and post-mission direct georeferencing for camera, LiDAR, and hyperspectral mapping sensors mounted on UAVs, achieving centimeter-level precision without the need for base stations, thus streamlining the mapping process.
The advanced Trimble APX RTX features cutting-edge, compact, survey-grade GNSS inertial technology that provides real-time positioning along with precise roll, pitch, and heading data. It offers four different models suitable for various flight altitudes and beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations, thanks to improved orientation accuracy. This diverse range includes options from entry-level to the most compact and high-performance solutions available today.
Additionally, the Trimble APX RTX enhances operational efficiency and reduces the need for rework through several key features:
- The Trimble CenterPoint RTX Complete subscription, which encompasses both real-time CenterPoint RTX services and post-processing in POSPac UAV, negating the requirement for a separate POSPac UAV license, fee, or internet access.
- Streamlined workflows with corrections provided via satellite or cellular IP, eliminating the necessity for a base station.
- Compact, single-board GNSS inertial hardware with optional external IMU support for enhanced orientation accuracy and gimbal mount applications.
- Next-generation onboard high-accuracy microelectromechanical sensors (MEMs) calibrated using Trimble applanix SmartCal compensation technology for improved precision.
- Trimble Applanix IN-Fusion+ multi-sensor aided inertial technology, ensuring reliable performance across various environments, featuring Trimble ProPoint® GNSS technology.
Joe Hutton, the director of inertial technology and airborne products at Trimble, stated: “Trimble has been at the forefront of direct georeferencing for over 25 years, and our commitment to innovation in this area continues. We strive to enhance our solutions based on customer feedback. The APX RTX exemplifies our dedication to swiftly adapting to advancements in the UAV sector with offerings that are more accurate, user-amiable, and accessible to all.”
