Revolutionary Gimbaled Imaging System Harnesses AI to Enhance Maritime Missions

Built upon the baseline configuration of the HD80 drone gimbal, the HD80-AIM leverages Trillium Engineering's universal, core imaging technology with SkyLink software

Trillium Engineering has unveiled the HD80-Artificial Intelligence – maritime (AIM) drone gimbal, a cutting-edge camera solution that integrates the innovative SkyLink-AIM proprietary software with artificial intelligence and advanced imaging technology. This system is designed for extensive maritime operations, including search, surveillance, and vessel identification.

“The HD80-AIM streamlines target detection and identification into a single payload, significantly lowering costs, reducing weight, and simplifying aircraft requirements,” explained Ryan O’Connor, Trillium’s Vice President of Engineering. “Moreover, the AIM’s fully integrated AI enhances operational efficiency and precision for maritime users, ultimately boosting mission success rates.”

Equipped with two main Full Motion Video (FMV) cameras, the HD80-AIM features a 640×512 cooled MWIR camera with a 10x optical zoom and a 1080p visible camera with a 36x optical zoom.

This dual-camera setup allows for detailed vessel inspection and identification from a safe distance, utilizing three imaging bands: visible light, Near-Infrared, and Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) to perform searches effectively in both daylight and nighttime conditions.

Working in tandem, these specialized sensors continuously and systematically scan extensive areas, identifying objects of interest through the SkyLink-AIM’s onboard data processing software, advanced search algorithms, and AI capabilities. When potential targets are detected, the HD80-AIM alerts the operator and provides geolocation data along with image clips for further evaluation.

“Given the rise in illegal fishing, piracy, and global search and rescue missions, the HD80-AIM’s rapid and thorough analysis significantly enhances the effectiveness of maritime operations across vast oceanic expanses,” stated Matt Carreon, Trillium’s Vice President of Business Development.

The HD80-AIM builds on Trillium’s established core imaging technology and SkyLink software, based on the foundational design of the HD80 gimbal, which is already deployed in various military contexts.
