Introducing the SDC500: A Cutting-Edge Inertial Measurement Unit by EMCORE Corporation

EMCORE corporation has unveiled the SDC500, an advanced MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems) inertial measurement unit (IMU) that leverages the company’s unique quartz technology. This non-ITAR controlled IMU is perfectly suited for a variety of commercial, industrial, and marine uses, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and various robotic systems.

Performance Variants Tailored to Your Needs

The SDC500 comes in multiple performance configurations, offering accuracy levels that range from a precise 1°/hr gyro and 1 mg accelerometer to a more relaxed 20°/hr gyro and 5 mg accelerometer bias.This flexibility allows users to select the version of the SDC500 that aligns with their specific performance needs and budget, catering to both tactical-grade and high-performance commercial/industrial applications.

Proven Technology for Reliable Performance

The SDC500’s capabilities are built upon the reliable and accurate quartz MEMS inertial sensor technology found in EMCORE’s SDI500 tactical-grade IMU. This new model incorporates the latest generation of gyroscopes,accelerometers,and high-speed signal processing,ensuring exceptional performance. The gyro design enhances sensitivity and linearity while considerably boosting noise immunity. furthermore, EMCORE’s quartz MEMS technology allows for the consistent mass production of precisely engineered sensor structures, benefiting from the large signal output and thermal stability inherent to quartz materials.

Integration Features for Diverse Applications

With its low size, weight, and power (SWaP) profile, the hermetically sealed SDC500 IMU includes integration features similar to those of the original SDI500 IMU. These features encompass industry-standard serial interaction, customizable communication protocols, Time of Validity (TOV) synchronization, continuous built-in Test (BIT), protection against Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), extended Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and adaptable input power options. Such attributes make the SDC500 IMU highly versatile for a wide array of demanding applications and environments.
