Introduction to the FELIX Counter-UAS System
Meteksan Defence, renowned for its expertise in radar and electronic warfare technologies, has unveiled the FELIX on-The-Move Counter-UAS System at IDEF 2023.
Addressing the Drone Threat
This cutting-edge system has been engineered to counter the rising prevalence of mini and micro drones. The next-generation air defense solution is capable of detecting and jamming faster unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operating at higher altitudes, thanks to its enhanced elevation coverage and improved frequency capabilities.
Capabilities and Applications
FELIX is specifically designed for the identification, tracking, and neutralization of tactical and Kamikaze UAVs. It is indeed anticipated to serve as a meaningful asset for Turkish security forces, enhancing the protection of both static installations and VIP convoys. Notably, it stands out as one of the few UAV defense systems globally that can function while in motion.
Key Features of the FELIX System
- Retinar AESA radar system, tailored for drone detection using advanced AESA/MIMO technology
- Electronic Attack System wiht capabilities for target-specific reactive jamming
- Comprehensive command and control software
Advanced Detection and Tracking
The Retinar AESA radar, integral to the FELIX system, boasts superior tracking capabilities with a high update frequency and advanced target classification, even for low-speed objects. This system can operate continuously, unaffected by challenging weather conditions, and is capable of tracking while on the move.
Electronic Attack System Features
The Electronic Attack System enhances the protective coverage with its extended jamming range. It employs broadband reactive jamming, dynamic spectrum management, and target-specific jamming to ensure comprehensive protection for security personnel in transit.
Insights from Leadership
Selçuk kerem Alparslan, President of Meteksan Defence, highlighted the necessity of FELIX in light of the growing threats posed by mini and micro UAVs and Kamikaze attacks worldwide. He stated: “FELIX, developed using our innovative radar and electronic warfare technologies, is a highly effective solution against drone and Kamikaze UAV threats, particularly for VIP and convoy security. We are confident that this product, launched at IDEF 2023, will achieve remarkable success both in Turkey and internationally.”
