T-MOTOR, in collaboration with T-DRONES, has unveiled an innovative variable-pitch propeller (VPP) system designed specifically for multirotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This cutting-edge design aims to enhance the maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) and boost power efficiency during hovering operations.

The Limitations of Fixed-Pitch Propellers

Multirotor UAVs typically adjust their flight dynamics by varying propeller speeds to manage thrust and torque. Tho, fixed-pitch propellers frequently enough fall short of delivering optimal performance across diverse flight conditions.

Challenges in Aerial Surveying

A pertinent example can be seen in aerial surveying tasks conducted at varying altitudes. Certain drone models may be equipped with propellers optimized for lower altitudes, leading to diminished performance when operating at higher elevations. To mitigate this, operators frequently carry multiple propellers of different sizes and pitches for on-site replacements. This approach, while effective, can be time-consuming and introduces potential risks, such as loose screws during swaps.

Overcoming Customization Hurdles

The development of tailored variable-pitch propellers often encounters several obstacles, including lengthy sample production times, discrepancies between simulation results and actual flight tests, and the high costs associated with customization. Features of the VPP System

The VPP system incorporates an adjustable device positioned between two propellers, allowing for multiple angle settings.Default angles include 2.5,5,7.5, 10, 12.5, and 15 degrees, and it is indeed compatible with T-MOTOR’s MF series propellers, which come in sizes of 18, 22, and 33 inches. This innovative design significantly reduces the time and effort required by operators. Additionally, the system can be tailored to accommodate other angles and propeller sizes as needed.
