Innovative Collaboration in UAV Propulsion Technology
Dufour Aerospace,a pioneer in lasting aviation solutions for medical transport, logistics, and emergency services, has partnered with Mejzlik Propellers to supply the primary propellers for their Aero2 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
Custom Propeller Solutions for Enhanced Performance
Mejzlik Propellers, headquartered in Brno,Czech Republic,is set to provide tailored variable-pitch blades specifically designed for the Aero2. The company specializes in manufacturing carbon fiber propellers for UAVs and offers comprehensive services including simulation, design, production, and testing.
Capabilities of the Aero2 UAV
The Aero2 UAV is engineered to transport essential cargo, such as medical supplies, weighing up to 40 kilograms (88 pounds) over medium to long distances. Utilizing a tilt-wing design, it can take off and land vertically like a helicopter while achieving the speed and efficiency of a fixed-wing aircraft.
Hybrid Power for Extended Range
Even though the propellers are powered by electric motors, the inclusion of hybrid components—such as traditional combustion engines or fuel cells—ensures that the UAV can cover significant distances without compromising performance.
Future Developments: The Manned Aero3
Following the Aero2, Dufour Aerospace is also developing the Aero3, a manned aircraft featuring a spacious cabin that accommodates eight passengers and includes large access doors.
Expert Insights on the Partnership
Simon Bendrey, Dufour Aerospace’s Head of Design, stated, “Mejzlik Propellers has developed custom variable-pitch blades that align perfectly with our aircraft’s motor and performance specifications. combined with our proprietary variable-pitch hub mechanism, these propellers will provide the necessary lift and cruising thrust for the aircraft. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration with Mejzlik Propellers on this initiative.”
Commitment to Excellence in Propeller Design
Tomas Mejzlik, CEO of Mejzlik Propellers, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “We are excited to work alongside Dufour Aerospace on the Aero2 project. Our commitment at Mejzlik Propellers is to provide innovative propeller solutions that enable our clients to meet their propulsion objectives effectively. This partnership reflects Dufour Aerospace’s confidence in our capabilities. Our involvement in the Aero2 project allows us to apply over 30 years of expertise in propeller design and manufacturing, and we are eager to contribute to this advanced project while enhancing our knowledge in UAV propulsion systems.”
