Alpha Unmanned Systems Enhances Bulgarian Border Security with Advanced UAVs
Alpha Unmanned Systems, a leader in the production of small tactical helicopter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), has delivered its state-of-the-art Alpha A900 helicopters to the Bulgarian Border Police.

enhanced Surveillance Capabilities
Under the terms of the recent agreement, the Border Police’s 200-ton vessel, “Balchik,” has been outfitted with the next-generation Alpha A900 UAVs. This strategic enhancement aims to bolster the capabilities of the Bulgarian Border Police in monitoring borders, tracking suspicious activities, and conducting maritime surveys.
Operational Resilience in Challenging Conditions
The Alpha A900 helicopters are engineered to perform effectively in adverse weather conditions, including high winds and rain. Their design allows for seamless takeoff and landing directly from maritime vessels, making them ideal for surveillance and operational tasks at sea.
Visibility and Stealth Features
When operating at lower altitudes, the A900s are designed to be easily visible for safety and warning purposes. Conversely, at higher altitudes, they maintain a low profile, enhancing their stealth capabilities.
Part of a Broader European Initiative
This upgrade is part of a extensive European initiative funded by the Internal Security Fund, with a budget exceeding EUR 35 million. The “Balchik” is already engaged in joint operations with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, Frontex, further strengthening regional security efforts.
