Tomahawk Robotics Joins Forces with Wave Relay Ecosystem

Tomahawk Robotics has officially become a member of the Wave Relay Ecosystem, a collaborative network of companies specializing in sensors and unmanned systems that leverage Persistent Systems’ advanced Wave Relay mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) radio technologies. This partnership will enable the integration of Tomahawk’s Kinesis Android-based common control system for both unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) with Persistent’s MPU5 Android-based MANET radio and the Rugged Display and Controller (RDC).

Innovative Control Solutions for Unmanned Systems

The Kinesis submission can be seamlessly installed on the MPU5 radio, while the RDC offers a user-friendly touchscreen interface, complete with joysticks and gamepad buttons, all within a compact design similar to that of a standard smartphone. For tasks requiring precise control, such as maneuvering the arm of a bomb disposal robot, the MPU5 and RDC can be paired with the Tomahawk Robotics Mimic spatial controller.

Streamlined Operations for Tactical Teams

Brian McDonald, the Field Operations Director at Persistent Systems, stated, “This collaboration essentially creates a ‘universal controller’ for unmanned systems that operates on the MPU5 and is utilized through the RDC, both of which are already in the possession of dismounted warfighters. This innovation reduces the burden of additional hardware, making Tomahawk’s comprehensive Kinesis capabilities accessible to the entire tactical team, not just the UxV operator.”

He added, “We are excited to partner with Tomahawk Robotics, as together we are equipping warfighters with remarkable capabilities in a compact, lightweight format, enhancing user experience while also being cost-effective for our clients.”

Empowering Users with Versatile Control

Matt Summer, Chief Technology Officer at Tomahawk Robotics, remarked, “With the user-friendly Kinesis system, operators can manage any unmanned vehicle, whether it’s on land, in the air, or at sea. Ther’s no need for specialized controllers or extensive training for each specific system.”
