Flirtey Enhances Drone Operations wiht Advanced Airspace Technology
Flirtey has announced the integration of Kongsberg Geospatial’s IRIS airspace situational awareness application into its autonomous software platform, wich is essential for the company’s BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) drone operations. This technological enhancement is a significant step towards obtaining FAA certification for these operations.
Innovative Airspace Monitoring with IRIS Technology
The IRIS airspace visualization system from Kongsberg Geospatial allows a single remote operator to oversee multiple drones and sensor feeds simultaneously. This software is designed to provide real-time calculations for aircraft separation and communication, facilitating BVLOS operations. Utilizing Kongsberg Geospatial’s TerraLens SDK, IRIS offers sophisticated 2D and 3D visualizations of airborne tracks and weather conditions, along with alerts and warnings that empower operators to effectively navigate complex airspace scenarios.
Expansion of Autonomous Drone Delivery Systems
Recently, Flirtey has finalized the technology necessary to certify and enhance the production of its autonomous drone delivery systems in the U.S. The company is currently focused on completing the FAA certification process while also scaling operations in New Zealand, where its technology has already received regulatory approval.Additionally, Flirtey is ramping up U.S. production of delivery drones to meet the increasing demand in the market.
