Enhanced Maritime Surveillance with the Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-100

The Royal Danish Navy (RDN) has commenced operations with the Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-100, focusing on maritime surveillance in Skagen, Denmark’s northernmost locality. This initiative is facilitated by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), which provides the remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) service.

Key functions of the CAMCOPTER S-100

The CAMCOPTER S-100 plays a pivotal role in assisting the RDN and various national agencies in executing essential maritime surveillance operations.Thes tasks encompass the detection and verification of potential oil spills and other discharges in marine environments.

Real-Time Data Sharing for Enhanced Monitoring

Data collected during the flights is transmitted in real-time to the EMSA RPAS Data Center. This system enables users to observe any suspicious activities at sea that could pose risks to the safety of individuals and vessels, as well as threats to the environment. The advanced sensors integrated into the S-100 considerably bolster the RDN’s maritime surveillance capabilities.

Advanced Sensor Technology

The unmanned aerial system (UAS) is outfitted with a sophisticated L3 wescam Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) camera gimbal, an Overwatch Imaging PT-8 Oceanwatch, and an Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver, all of which enhance its operational effectiveness.

Partnership and Impact

“Schiebel has established a accomplished collaboration with EMSA across multiple European nations,” stated Hans Georg Schiebel, Chairman of the Schiebel Group.“We take pride in the fact that the S-100 is making a significant contribution to the Royal Danish Navy’s operations.”
