Sonardyne has unveiled its latest innovation in shallow water dynamic positioning (DP) technology, the SPRINT-Nav DP, which is part of the SPRINT-Nav series.

Leveraging Sonardyne’s rich expertise in hybrid acoustic-inertial navigation systems,the SPRINT-Nav DP integrates high-performance inertial navigation with Doppler velocity log (DVL) technology into a single,pre-calibrated device.

SPRINT-nav DP delivers precise and dependable positioning capabilities without relying on GNSS signals.This feature is particularly beneficial for various shallow water operations, such as offshore renewable energy projects and nearshore activities, where GNSS signals can be compromised by nearby structures.

Meeting Industry Demands

In response to feedback from SPRINT-Nav users and the growing need for shallow water DP solutions in the offshore wind sector, SPRINT-Nav DP has undergone rigorous testing and validation to comply with essential class requirements as an alternative positioning reference for vessel DP systems.

Enhancing Operational Efficiency

This new addition to the SPRINT-Nav lineup aims to boost operational efficiency for DP vessel operators. The DVL bottom-lock technology, effective at depths of up to 230 meters, eliminates the need for additional sensors or equipment, as the seabed itself serves as the positioning reference.With factory pre-calibration,SPRINT-Nav DP is ready for use as soon as the vessel reaches its operational site.
