Revolutionizing Subsea Imaging: How Voyis Deep Vision Optics Transforms ROV & AUV Operations

Voyis unveils Deep Vision Optics, an innovative optical system that advances underwater imaging by delivering substantial enhancements to image clarity and sharpness.

Voyis has introduced deep Vision Optics,an innovative optical system aimed at substantially improving image clarity and sharpness in underwater settings, compatible with both the Revelation Vision and Observer Imaging Systems.

Underwater imaging systems often struggle to maintain focus throughout thier entire field of view due to the unique properties of water. Conventional dome viewports can distort image quality and focus, leading to a loss of sharpness, particularly at the edges. This limitation also reduces the camera’s depth of field, making it challenging to achieve optimal clarity for both nearby and distant subjects. Consequently, operators may experience blurred images, decreased accuracy in feature tracking, and inconsistencies in photogrammetry-based mapping tasks.

To tackle these critical imaging challenges, Voyis has engineered Deep Vision Optics, which incorporates a elegant corrective optical design with three primary goals:

  • Eliminate Edge blur: By correcting for the distortions caused by the dome viewport and the water medium, this system ensures uniform sharpness across the entire field of view, maximizing sensor performance.
  • Improve Overall Clarity: The advanced optical system mitigates distortions from the water, enhancing clarity not only at the edges but also in the center of the image.
  • Broaden Depth of Field: With tailored optical engineering, Deep Vision Optics allows for clear imaging of both close and distant objects, essential for accurate inspections and extensive surveys.

These advancements enhance the effective use of the field of view, boost situational awareness, and elevate visual survey capabilities for rovs and AUVs. The improved sharpness facilitates precise machine learning analysis, while enhanced corner detail and depth of field contribute to the stability and efficiency of photogrammetry and VSLAM processes.

Deep Vision Optics marks a significant leap forward in underwater imaging technology, empowering operators to conduct more accurate, efficient, and automated subsea inspections. voyis continues to redefine underwater vision, capturing intricate details beneath the surface with remarkable clarity.
