Revolutionizing UAVs: Discover the Ultimate Coaxial Rotor Design!

Tyto Robotics has completed a study comparing the effect of inter-rotor distance, propeller size and relative propeller speed on total

Tyto Robotics has conducted an extensive analysis examining how variations in rotor spacing, propeller dimensions, adn their respective speeds influence the overall thrust and torque produced, alongside the efficiency of both the propellers and the propulsion systems involved.

Explore the complete study on the Tyto Robotics website>

This article delves into:

  • The relationship between rotor speed and spacing on thrust and torque output
  • the influence of the size of the front propeller on thrust and torque
  • Efficiency metrics of the propellers

the coaxial testing set-up

for these experiments, the company utilized two Flight Stand 50 testing platforms, capable of measuring thrust up to 50 kgf and torque up to 30 Nm. These stands also track RPM, voltage, current, mechanical and electrical power, and also the efficiencies of the propellers, motors, and the entire propulsion system.
