Advancements in Propeller Technology for Urban air Mobility
In light of a surge in demand for 2-3 meter propeller prototypes tailored for Urban Air Mobility (UAM) systems, Mejzlík Propellers has expanded its Off-The-Shelf (OTS) offerings to include 60, 70, and 80-inch propellers.
Innovative Production Techniques
The manufacturing of these larger propellers has been facilitated by the installation of a specialized curing oven capable of processing components up to 3 meters long. This oven employs automated curing cycles that reach temperatures of 180 degrees Celsius. The production techniques incorporate carbon fiber infusion tooling, utilizing a high-precision CNC master tool model, along with advanced prepreg materials for propeller construction.
Research and Advancement Initiatives
Mejzlík Propellers is in the process of establishing an internal testing facility dedicated to evaluating overspin, endurance, structural integrity, noise levels, and material fatigue, all in compliance with EASA and FAA standards. This initiative aims to align with future certification requirements.
To enhance their understanding of the evolving needs for certification,Mejzlík is collaborating with various UAM platform manufacturers.Additionally, they are partnering with UBIQ Aerospace to create an innovative anti-icing solution for propellers. This technology, wich features metal Leading Edge Protection, is designed for both multicopter and fixed-wing UAVs and was first introduced in 2022.
Efforts are also underway to improve the consistency of these products through the use of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) for foam cores, prepreg materials, and new non-destructive testing methodologies.
Tailored Solutions for Clients
Along with their OTS propellers, Mejzlík Propellers excels in the design, simulation, production, and testing of custom propellers that meet specific client specifications. Each propeller is delivered fully assembled and meticulously balanced to ensure smooth, vibration-free operation.
