innovative Navigation Technology Enhances Autonomous River Surveys

SBG Systems has revealed that its advanced Ekinox2-D dual antenna GNSS-aided inertial navigation system (GNSS-INS) has been chosen by Cadden, a provider of geoscientific solutions, for integration into an unmanned surface vehicle (USV). This USV was deployed to perform an autonomous bathymetric survey of the Loire River in Nantes, France.

equipped for Precision

The OceanAlpha SL40, measuring 1.6 meters in length, is outfitted with a R2Sonic 2020 multibeam echosounder, specifically designed for hydrographic surveys in shallow waters. Additionally, it features a MiniSVS sound velocity sensor, which substantially enhances the accuracy of the survey, alongside the Ekinox2-D system.

Extraordinary Accuracy with Ekinox2-D

The Ekinox2-D GNSS-INS stands out as a compact, survey-grade solution that incorporates a dual-antenna RTK heading GNSS receiver, providing position accuracy down to the centimeter level. Furthermore, data collected from this inertial sensor can be refined using SBG’s Qinertia PPK software, allowing for even greater precision in results.
