Schiebel’s CAMCOPTER® S-100 Unmanned Air System (UAS) successfully took part in the European Defence Agency’s (EDA) first-ever Operational Experimentation (OPEX) campaign, demonstrating its autonomous cross-domain logistics capabilities in a complex, simulated operational environment.
The five-week campaign was held at the Italian Army’s Multifunctional Experimentation Centre (CEPOLISPE) and UTTAT (Ufficio Tecnico Territoriale Armamenti Terrestri di Nettuno). It brought together six leading European defense companies to evaluate the performance of UAS and UGS in executing autonomous logistics missions across both aerial and ground domains. The event represented a major step forward in promoting innovation and interoperability within the European defense sector.
Hans Georg Schiebel, Chairman of the Schiebel Group, said, “We are proud to have contributed to this important initiative led by the European Defence Agency. The S-100’s proven operational track record, combined with its autonomous logistics capability, underscores its value as a force multiplier in multi-domain operations.”
During the campaign, the CAMCOPTER S-100 carried out multiple daily logistics missions using an underslung cargo net, successfully transporting loads exceeding 50 kilograms under simulated battlefield conditions. The UAS consistently demonstrated high levels of robustness, reliability, and mission effectiveness, even when operating in degraded communications environments, adverse weather, and contested scenarios.
