Seamless Connectivity: Empowering BVLOS UAV Operations

Gotonomi delivers secure, always-on satellite connectivity for BVLOS UAV operations, offering Viasat-powered terminals with global coverage, integrated video streaming, flexible airtime plans, and robust data encryption for critical missions

Reliable Connectivity for BVLOS UAV Operations

Gotonomi specializes in compact satellite and cellular connectivity solutions, providing essential interaction technology for commercial UAVs operating beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS).

Engineered for tasks such as inspection, surveillance, and extended-range missions, Gotonomi’s SATCOM terminals guarantee continuous, secure connections between unmanned aerial vehicles, remote operators, and airspace management systems.

This article addresses critical technical aspects of Gotonomi’s satellite communication solutions, covering everything from network architecture to video streaming capabilities and airtime options.

What network infrastructure underpins Gotonomi terminals?

Gotonomi’s UAV terminals utilize the Viasat Velaris L-band service, which operates on the same global network dedicated to aviation safety communications, ensuring strong and reliable connectivity. Currently, the network consists of six L-band satellites, with three additional I-8 satellites set to launch, enhancing both coverage and capacity.

how is billing structured for usage?

Airtime is charged on a monthly basis, with each plan offering a specific data allowance.Any usage exceeding the allocated data will incur additional charges at the end of the month.

  • Plans are tailored to meet the unique bandwidth and operational needs of UAV platforms.

What airtime options are available?

Gotonomi provides four airtime plans specifically designed for UAVs through Viasat:

  • 175 MB/month
  • 500 MB/month
  • 1 GB/month
  • 2.5 GB/month

Each plan requires a minimum commitment of 12 months and is customized to accommodate various mission demands and data requirements.

Is live video transmission possible with Gotonomi terminals?

Absolutely. The multilink terminal from Gotonomi supports video streaming at rates of up to 200 kbps and comes pre-equipped with Videosoft software, providing an immediate streaming solution optimized for bandwidth-constrained environments.

What security measures are implemented in Gotonomi terminals?

Gotonomi’s communication system is designed with security in mind at every level:

  • On-air encryption complies with 3GPP standards
  • Data is transmitted through dedicated terrestrial networks
  • Integration options include VPN, MPLS, or Direct Connect
  • Terminals have undergone independent penetration testing and security evaluations

This framework ensures a secure and dependable data pathway from the drone to ground control or enterprise networks.

Which antennas are compatible with gotonomi terminals?

The terminals are optimized for use with the Gotonomi 200A Omni antenna, which is type-approved and rated IP67 for reliable performance in various weather conditions.

  • For specific airframe applications, the Cobham LGA-3000 antenna may also be a viable option.

What areas does Viasat Velaris cover?

These terminals offer global satellite coverage down to a 20° elevation angle. Gotonomi is collaborating with Viasat to extend this coverage to a 5° elevation, which will broaden operational capabilities, especially in high-latitude or obstructed regions.

Ready for BVLOS, Proven in the Field

whether for command and control, live video streaming, or data transmission in remote areas, Gotonomi terminals provide a dependable communication framework for BVLOS UAV operations. With secure satellite communication integration, flexible airtime options, and extensive global coverage, Gotonomi equips next-generation unmanned systems with the necessary tools to operate confidently beyond visual line of sight.
