The Starling 2 Max is an NDAA-compliant open drone development platform, designed for outdoor computer-vision-based dead reckoning and GPS-denied applications. Powered by the VOXL 2 flight controller with up to 15 TOPS of AI processing performance, it incorporates a suite of imaging sensors – dual 1MP fisheye CV cameras for visual inertial odometry, forward and down 12MP cameras for image streaming and capture, and a FLIR Lepton thermal imager.
The VOXL SDK enhances the drone’s performance with a range of open software algorithms that can be deployed right out of the box, including multi-camera visual inertial odometry (VIO) for GPS-denied navigation, visual obstacle avoidance (VOA) for safe flight in cluttered and constricted areas, and 3D mapping and path planning for autonomous operation in dynamic environments.
The versatile platform also offers an additional payload capacity of 500g, and provides up to 55 minutes of flight time.
