SubC Imaging Enhances Rayfin Cameras with Internal & Topside Data Transfer Features!

SubC Imaging has released a software update that allows all Rayfin cameras to support both internal recording and topside transfer, improving deployment flexibility

SubC Imaging has unveiled a significant software upgrade for its rayfin camera series, enabling all models—Benthic, Coastal, and Micro—to now utilize both internal storage and topside data transfer capabilities.

This recent enhancement aims to provide users with greater flexibility in data capture and storage, tailored to specific deployment scenarios. This enhancement is applicable to both standalone cameras and comprehensive SubC systems equipped with Rayfin technology.

Whether operating the camera independently or as part of a broader inspection or monitoring solution, users now have enhanced options for efficient data management and acquisition.

Diverse Storage Solutions for Varied Operational Needs
Different missions necessitate distinct storage configurations. For autonomous operations, internal storage is often preferred, allowing footage to be recorded onboard for subsequent access. Conversely, ROV inspections and live operations gain from real-time topside data transfer, facilitating immediate viewing, control, and documentation.

With this upgrade, Rayfin cameras are capable of both functionalities. Depending on the mission’s requirements, operators can choose to record internally or transmit footage topside in real time—all utilizing the same camera.

Now Available: Internal and Topside Data Storage for All Rayfin Cameras

All three models in the Rayfin camera lineup now feature both internal and topside storage options through the updated Rayfin software, including:

  • Rayfin Micro – Designed for depths of up to 500m. Perfect for live inspections and surveys utilizing compact subsea systems.
  • Rayfin Coastal – Also rated for 500m depth. Specifically engineered for drop and tow camera systems in coastal and shelf environments.
  • Rayfin benthic – Capable of operating at depths of 6000m. Ideal for deepwater surveys, observatories, and autonomous or battery-operated deployments.

By developing both the cameras and the software in-house,SubC Imaging can implement updates without the need for third-party tools or additional hardware.

This latest enhancement stems from SubC’s cohesive hardware and software integration.
Adam Rowe, VP of Software at subc Imaging, stated, “Our in-house design of both hardware and software allows us to roll out updates like this seamlessly. It’s all about providing our users with increased flexibility—without the need for extra equipment or complicated setups.”
