Textron Systems’ Aerosonde® Hybrid Quad UAS Shines in UNITAS Naval Exercises
The Aerosonde® Hybrid Quad (HQ) Unmanned aerial System (UAS) from Textron Systems has successfully completed a series of remarkable demonstrations during the UNITAS naval exercises.
Demonstrations and Achievements
These demonstrations included five flights, accumulating a total of 24 hours of operational flight time from the USNS Burlington. The Aerosonde UAS played a crucial role in mission oversight by transmitting video feeds to command centers and utilizing a satellite system to send intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) data to seven diffrent locations at once.
Enhancing Decision-Making with Real-time Data
The capability to gather and relay high-resolution imagery and data to naval command centers in near real-time substantially improves decision-making processes. This allows naval commanders to strategically deploy their resources more effectively.
Advanced Sensor Capabilities
Equipped with a variety of sensor options—including electro-optical (EO), infrared (IR), synthetic aperture radar (SAR), and signals intelligence (SIGINT)—the UAS can efficiently identify and monitor surface vessels, submarines, and other potential threats.

As part of the opening ceremonies, the Aerosonde HQ UAS also successfully executed a ship-to-shore logistics demonstration, delivering flags from Colombia and the United States, further emphasizing its versatility and operational importance.
