Meller Optics’ sapphire optical windows are rated 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, making them nearly as hard as diamonds. These windows provide extraordinary protection against abrasive elements such as dirt, sand, and saltwater. They can also be enhanced with multi-spectral anti-reflective coatings that comply with salt fog standards.

Customizable Optical Windows

The optical windows are available in three distinct quality tiers: Standard, Superior, and High-Precision, catering to a wide range of applications. Customization options include diameter, thickness, and orientation to meet specific project requirements.

High-Precision Sapphire Domes

Meller Optics offers robust sapphire domes with diameters reaching up to 100 mm and viewing angles of up to 180 degrees. These domes are produced using a highly accurate 5-axis spherical machining center, ensuring wall thickness variations of less than 25 microns and dimensional tolerances as tight as +/-10 microns.

Additionally, domes can be fabricated from various materials upon request, including quartz, optical glass, silicon, zinc sulfide, germanium, Spinel, and Alon, providing flexibility for diverse applications.

Optical-Grade Monocrystalline Sapphire Lenses

Meller’s optical-grade monocrystalline sapphire lenses are perfect for imaging, focusing, IR laser beam steering, and applications requiring chemical and erosion resistance.These lenses boast diameter tolerances of +/- 0.25 mm and thickness tolerances of +/- 0.20 mm.

Available in both positive and negative configurations, these rugged lenses can be tailored to specific diameter and focal length requirements, and can also be treated with anti-reflection and other thin film coatings for enhanced performance.
