GNSS Board from Trimble
Introducing the Trimble UAS1: A Leap in GNSS Technology
Trimble Integrated Technologies has unveiled the Trimble UAS1,a compact and highly accurate Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) board tailored for unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
Advanced Features for Enhanced Performance
This innovative board is equipped with durable connectors, cutting-edge Trimble Maxwell technology, and a user-friendly software interface, making it simple for system integrators to incorporate satellite-based positioning with future upgrade potential.
The UAS1 boasts a 336-channel GNSS solution that delivers centimeter-level, real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning by tracking L1/L2 frequencies from GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou constellations. Additionally, it supports Trimble CenterPoint RTX GNSS corrections, allowing for precise positioning without the need for a base station through a subscription service. This technology enables users to achieve horizontal accuracy better then 2 centimeters and vertical accuracy within 5 centimeters.
Robust Design and Compliance
With a full metal shield and a compact form factor of 71mm x 46mm x 13mm, the UAS1 effectively protects high-precision GNSS signals from electromagnetic interference (EMI) on the host UAS platform. Furthermore, the receiver is FCC and CE certified, facilitating compliance and perhaps accelerating time to market.
User-Friendly Interface and Upgrade Options
The UAS1 features a Remote Network driver Interface Specification (RNDIS) that allows manufacturers to access an intuitive web user interface via USB.Firmware options and features can be upgraded with a password, enabling the addition of functionalities as system requirements evolve.
Comprehensive Functionality
Additional features include integrated Trimble RTX technology, Fault Detection and Exclusion (FDE), receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM), an embedded RF Spectrum Monitoring and Analysis tool, an industry-standard camera hot-shoe interface for geo-positioning photographs, and LED indicators for status monitoring. The trimble UAS1 is also capable of outputting to the widely-used RINEX post-processing format.
industry Insights
Thomas Utzmeier, the general manager of Trimble’s Integrated Technologies Division, stated: “UAS manufacturers require high performance, reliability, and tailored support for their positioning solutions. The new UAS1 board provides the latest GNSS technology in a form factor that is easy to integrate for UAV/UAS applications.”
